From traditional networking to automated networks
Network infrastructures are becoming more distributed, more dynamic and more complex, and every change touches more components than it did the day before. Manual operating methods, which held up for a few dozen devices, no longer hold at that scale.
The symptoms are well known: configurations drifting from one site to the next, simple changes that take days, outdated documentation, critical knowledge concentrated in two people's heads. None of them is solved by buying hardware. All of them are solved by changing how the network is operated.
Software development has proven those practices over twenty years: version, test, automate deployments, observe. Applying them to the network is the NetDevOps principle.
Network Codify supports companies through this transformation, with an industrial approach based on:
- Network as code: versioned, reviewed and tested before it is applied: every change is traceable and auditable.
- A single Source of Intent (sometimes called a source of truth): the intended state is the reference; the network conforms to it.
- Reproducible, reversible changes: the same result on every run, and a rollback in one step.
- Feedback loops: the actual state is measured continuously and compared to the intent.
- Progressive automation: step by step, starting from what exists, no big bang.
- Open, no lock-in: standards, APIs and open-source tools first: no platform locks you in.
Our goal: make the network programmable, reliable, scalable and predictive.
Our expertise
Network Automation
Running network operations reliably and repeatably: Python, Ansible, Terraform / OpenTofu, APIs.
Provisioning, configuration, compliance checks, data collection, remediation and automation of recurring operations.
Source of Truth
Modelling the desired state of the network in Nautobot, NetBox or Infrahub: sites, devices, addressing, services.
The Source of Truth becomes the reference that feeds automation, orchestration and observability; one dataset, everywhere. It is the foundation of intent-based automation: the network conforms to what is declared, not the other way round.
NetDevOps
Building the toolchain that makes the network versioned and testable: Git, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, automated tests, with progressive rollout and rollback.
Network changes follow the same lifecycle as application code.
Orchestration
Chaining those operations into end-to-end processes across network, IPAM, cloud, security, ITSM, observability and business applications: execution order, approvals, error handling and retries.
Automation runs a task; orchestration delivers a service.
Observability & Data
Collecting and normalising telemetry, metrics and retrieved configurations, then checking them against the desired state: drift detection, alerts, dashboards.
Network data becomes the trigger for automation, not just a report.
AI & Agents
Designing AI assistants and agents for network operations: LLMs, RAG and agents connected to the Source of Truth, telemetry and automation platforms.
Assisted troubleshooting, configuration analysis, change generation and intent-based operations, with guardrails: validation, dry-run, human review.
Integrated platforms, not isolated tools
An effective Network Automation strategy rarely relies on a single product.
Network Codify designs architectures that let the different building blocks of your infrastructure talk to each other.

Interfaces
- PresentationProvides the interfaces through which users interact with the system, including dashboards, graphical user interfaces (e.g., ITSM), and CLI tools.
Control
- IntentDefines the logic to handle and the persistence layer to store the desired state of the network, including both configuration and operational expectations.
- OrchestratorDefines how the automation tasks are coordinated and executed in response to events.
- ObservabilityIt persists the actual network state, and defines the logic to process it.
Action
- ExecutorEncompasses the actual tasks applied to the network to drive changes (e.g., updating configuration) as guided by the intended state.
- CollectorIn contrast to Executor, this component focuses on retrieving (i.e., reading) the actual state of the network.

From automation to AI agents
Network infrastructures are entering a new era.
Data from the Source of Truth, telemetry and observability platforms makes it possible to build systems that assist teams in analysing and operating the network.
That is what Agentic Networking means: applying AI agents to network operations. But an agent is only as good as its foundations: observability that produces trustworthy data, a Source of Truth/Intent that acts as the reference, and proven automation that executes.
Each layer of that stack rests on the one below, and agents are only the top:
- AI Agents
- Network Automation
- Source of IntentObservability
- Infrastructure
Network Codify explores and develops new approaches around:
- Assisted diagnosis: explain an incident from telemetry, logs and configurations, and suggest a path to resolution.
- Configuration review: spot drift, risks and non-compliance against the desired state before they hurt.
- Change generation: describe the expected outcome, get the matching change, validated in dry-run and submitted for human review.
- The network in plain language: query the Source of Truth and telemetry the way you ask a question: "which sites depend on this link?".
- Anomalies and forecasting: detect behavioural drift in telemetry and anticipate saturation and failures instead of enduring them.
- Living documentation: generate and maintain diagrams, runbooks and operating sheets from the Source of Truth and telemetry, always up to date.
- Operations copilot: an AI agent that knows your network, guides the engineer during an incident and prepares the actions, without ever executing them on its own.
The goal stays the same: let network engineers spend less time on repetitive operations and more time on architecture and the evolution of their infrastructure.

Expertise at the intersection of networking and software
Network EngineeringSoftware EngineeringDevOpsNetwork Automation
Network automation projects often fail between two worlds: network teams know the devices but not the software practices; development teams master pipelines but not BGP, VLANs or how a firewall behaves in production.
Network Codify speaks both languages. A single point of contact who understands your operational constraints and can write, test and industrialise the code that automates them, nothing lost in translation between those who run the network and those who tool it.
Experience in demanding environments
We have worked on transformation, automation and industrialisation projects for network infrastructures on behalf of major French and international groups.

Client feedback
Excellent network automation expertise (at the crossroads of network, systems, development and AI) and a real ability to understand operational constraints.
Excellent ability to communicate with business teams and make technical challenges clear and accessible. A real aptitude for rapidly developing practical solutions, overcoming obstacles, and driving iterative improvements while maintaining a long-term strategic vision.
It was a pleasure working with Thomas, who supported us for four years to roll out Nautobot and make it our network Source of Truth: synchronisation with our external tools, collection of operational data directly from devices and through controller APIs, deployment on Kubernetes via pipelines. He is equally at home in networking and software development, which lets him deliver robust solutions and keep them running over time. A reliable, autonomous partner, full of initiative, with a real team spirit and attentive to internal customers.
Thank you Thomas for your professionalism and the quality of your work. Your technical rigour and your ability to structure complex topics helped me grow professionally. It was a pleasure working with you. Until our paths cross again.
